The Dole Factory (Yes, we went to THE pineapple company C:)
(there’s not enough space in the caption box beneath each picture, so I just have to narrarate here)
.) My darling cousins posing by the pineapples (Hannah, Noel, and Krista)
.) What we have officially deemed the “hot-dog pineapple”
.) You may notice the sign that reads New York 4,972 miles. I traveled EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. OF. THOSE.
.) On the “History of Dole” train ride (aka let’s stuff 5 minutes of facts into a 20 minute train ride with intervals of tacky tourist music!)
.) THE MACHINERY USED TO HARVEST THE PINEAPPLES (and thus my best friends)
.) Did you know: all planting and picking of pineapples is done by hand? The scaring away of pesky tropical birds, on the other hand, is done by frightening cardboard cut-outs representing to workers who pick the pineapples.
.) How can you resist tourist traps like that one? I mean, sticking my head through a pineapple cut-out.
.) And the classic, “what can we do to keep the little children from running wild … oh, I know, let’s take ridiculous pictures of ourselves!” picture
